- Stefano
Pastor, violinist, has a really unique sound and his music is oriented
to the research and improvisation. He has graduated in violin
and, with full marks, in Jazz; he has attend masters with Piero
Farulli, Enrico Rava, Dave Liebman

- On 1982 he won the contest
"Laboratorio Lirico Sperimerntale" in Alessandria (IT) and
also won the 2nd prize at the prestigious “Rassegna Giovani
Musicisti” in Cervo (IT). The “Jazz Lighthouse” association, in
collaboration with the Genova Commune, awarded to Pastor a special
prize “for the research of new expressive ways in jazz music” on
2006.

- He
played classical music at the beginning of his career as first
violin of the string quartet "Leon Battista Alberti" along
six years, and working with a lot of symphonic and chamber orchestras,
in many important theatres, sharing the stage with artists like Josè
Carreras, Cecilia Gasdia, Daniele Gatti, Massimo De Bernart and making
several discs and recordings for the Italian National Radio (RAI). He
also made discs with the art-rock group Picchio dal Pozzo and
with the popoular singer-song-writer Paolo Conte.

- At the present he devotes himself
entirely to jazz music performing live with a lot of important jazz
musicians like Borah Bergman,
Harry Beckett, Joe Morris, George Haslam, Ratzo Harris, Satoshi
Takeishi, Paul Hession, Fulvio Maras, Steve Kershaw, Claudio Lugo,
Jason Mears, Swetja, Adel Salameh, Naziha Azouz, Fabrizio
Puglisi, Piero Leveratto, Maurizio Giammarco, Cristopher Culpo,
Giancarlo Schiaffini, Andrea Rossi Andrea.

- He recorded several CDs as a leader
working with labels like Silta (IT), Slam (UK) and Mutable Music
(USA), and taken part to many recordings as a sideman.

- His works was reviewed
enthusiastically in Europe, America and Canada and he got a lot of
dedicated interviews, articles, and broadcast by magazines and radios
like Musica Jazz (IT), Quaderni d’Altri Tempi (IT), Jazz Colours
(IT), Jazzosphere (FR), AAJ (IT), Jazzit (IT), Prove Aperte (IT), RAI
(IT), BBC (UK), Radio Palermo (AR).

- He was voted second, as best
instrumentalist, at the Italian critic's referendum "Top
Jazz" in 2009; eighth in 2008; seventh as best new talent in
2007. The prestigious American review All About Jazz - NY voted his CD
with Borah Bergman “Live
at Tortona” as “Best New Release 2009 – Honorable Mention".

toured in Italy, Germany, UK, Belgium, USA as a soloist with various
groups, performing at several important festivals like “Third

Quaderni d’Altri Tempi.

- Violinista
dal timbro originalissimo, Stefano Pastor incentra la sua musica sulla
ricerca e sull'improvvisazione. Si è diplomato in violino e, con il
massimo dei voti, in jazz; ha frequentato i corsi di Alto
Perfezionamento di Quartetto alla scuola di Musica di Fiesole con
Piero Farulli e seminari con Dave Liebman ed Enrico Rava.

- Nel 1982 è risultato tra i
vincitori del Concorso del “Laboratorio Lirico Sperimentale” di
Alessandria e ha vinto il secondo premio alla Rassegna Giovani
Musicisti di Cervo (IM) nel 2005; L’associazione “Jazz
Lighthouse”, in collaborazione con Comune e Provincia di Genova,
conferisce a Pastor un premio speciale “per la ricerca di nuove
possibilità espressive nel jazz” nel 2006.

- Un’intensa
attività nel campo della musica classica lo ha visto, nella prima
fase della sua carriera, primo violino del quartetto Alberti e
violinista in numerose formazioni orchestrali e cameristiche, in
importanti teatri italiani, collaborando tra gli altri con Josè
Carreras, Cecilia Gasdia, Daniele Gatti, Massimo De Bernart,
partecipando a svariate incisioni e a registrazioni per la RAI. Ha
inoltre inciso dischi con il gruppo art rock Picchio dal Pozzo e il
cantautore Paolo Conte.

dischi del 2009 con menzione d’onore.
