"...'Freedom' features an interesting instrumental line-up with two reeds (bari & soprano saxes) and two strings (violin & double bass), both from opposite ends of the sound spectrum. This is not just another "free improv" session, since there are some sketches or charts involved from what I can hear. Bassist Giorgio Dini does a great job of holding down the rhythm section role by pumping lines, occasionally at a furious pace. There is a constant layer of lines that intersect and interact, shift and move together like currents in the ocean (...) there is some amazingly tight interplay here. The magic here is when one of the players begins a line the others harmonize with it instantly creating superb shifting shades and focused ideas. What I find most interesting is when they end up in some sublime, melodic and what sounds like partially charted sections. There is calm center to much of this which makes this set often thoughtful and haunting."

"...'Freedom' mette in evidenza un'interessante strumentazione con due ance (sax baritono e soprano) e due archi (violino e contrabbasso), in entrambi i casi posizionati agli estremi opposti dell'estensione sonora. Questa non è solo un altra sessione "free improv", visto che ci sono alcune prescrizioni o tracce da quel che posso sentire. Il bassista Giorgio Dini fa un gran lavoro giocando, in solitudine, il ruolo dell'intera sezione ritmica, pompando linee talvolta dalla furiosa andatura. Vi è una costante stratificazione di linee che si intersecano e interagiscono, spostandosi e muovendosi insieme come correnti nell'oceano (...) Vi è un interplay incredibilmente serrato. La magia avviene quando uno dei musicisti dà avvio a una melodia e gli altri la armonizzano istantaneamente, creando superbi spostamenti d'ombre e idee ben definite. Ciò che trovo più interessante è quel loro tendere a qualcosa di sublime, melodico e ciò che suona come se fosse in parte scritto. Vi è infine un centro calmo in gran parte di questo lavoro che lo rende spesso meditativo e stregato."
